If you don’t believe in what you’ve got, it’s like you can’t see that you’re enough” - Safetysuit

Have you ever experienced something so powerful and uplifting, but minutes, hours, days later you completely forget about it? Good things seem to fade so quickly from our minds but sadness and jealousy can remain in our hearts for what seems like forever. 2013 was full of so many amazing experiences, some good, some bad, but many of which I honestly thought wouldn't happen for a long time. I landed a great job at City Creek Center, Koy and I moved into an apartment in downtown Salt Lake City, I got to travel Europe with my best friend/sister Sarah for two weeks during the summer, Koy and I spent our one year anniversary at the Stein Eriksen in Deer Valley, Koy got a great job downtown and we were able to spend Christmas with both sides of our family! We have been so blessed throughout this past year and I want the amazing memories I've had to always outweigh the trails and hard times that are bound to happen through life.

As I’ve spent the past few weeks virtually M.I.A. from social media and blogging, it definitely helped me clear my head and focus on the true importance of family and the Christmas season. I went to see the Life of Walter Mitty on Christmas night and the film was absolutely amazing. It was definitely a self-reflection movie but it was something I needed a reminder of.  Definitely gave me a case of wanderlust…. Bad. I love to travel, there’s something absolutely breath-taking about exploring a new place you’ve never been to, or re-visiting a place you where you left part of your heart. The movie gave me a lot of perspective on life and where I want it to go.  I love the New Year because, and I know it may sound dumb, but I really do feel like a completely new person. It was fun talking with my husband about the upcoming year and all of the things we want to do, accomplish, and change. It’s a new slate, a fresh beginning. The more I thought about it, I thought about how this year I’m going to focus not only on my New Year’s resolutions, but focusing my life around a theme. I got this ring (pictured below) at the Beehive Bazaar a few week ago and couldn't help but fall in love with it. It helped give me inspiration for my 2014 theme which is... BELIEVE.

*Sorry for the ULTRA CLOSE UP picture of my hand.

Believe in Love.
Believe in Adventure.
Believe in Myself.
Believe in Others.
Believe in Magic.

Believe in Love // I want to remember how far a simple smile, a thank-you note, or a hug can go in brightening someone’s day. I want to love my husband, family and friends more and make a conscious effort every day to show love to everyone and everything around me.

Believe in Adventure // YOLO right? It’s easy to get stuck in the mundane, day-to-day activities that turn into boredom. I want to take more risks, travel more places, go on more hikes, see more of Utah, I want to make rash decisions, not overanalyze things, and just DO IT!

Believe in Myself// I cretic myself more than probably anyone else.  I’m going to work harder on pursuing my passions, in making my dreams happen, and living in the moment. I’m going to push myself to exercise more, to work on my cooking skills and eliminate stressful things from my life

Believe in Others // I have a hard time trusting people. I am constantly trying to figure out other people’s motives and why they are doing what they are doing. I am going to put more faith in people and believe that there really are good people out there who want the best for me.

Believe in Magic // I’m a woman so naturally… I overanalyze everything. Over-planning, perfection, you could say it’s my middle name.  This year I’m going to work harder on going with the flow, letting things happen and remembering the simple quote… “Overplanning kills Magic”. There is magic everywhere, in nature, at work, in our homes. I’m going to search more for God’s tender mercies and the magic that he blesses me with each and every day.

Thank you to all who have followed and supported me through blogging in 2013, I am looking forward to some fun changes here on the blog and a whole new year full of possibilities! Happy Friday!

  1. I love that you have a ring with your word of the year! :)

  2. I love this post Courtney! Even though it sounds cliche, creating a new you every year is totally true. Or maybe we aren't creating new versions of ourselves, we are just adding onto who we are. I love the central theme of this being "believe" though, because really anything is possible and we all need to believe that we are capable of whatever our heart's desire.

  3. maybe we can follow each other? let me know! <3

I always love to hear your comments & feedback! I put my heart and soul into this blog and I make sure to read each and every comment. Thank you! XO
