Simplicity.

So happy it's the weekend! My weekend has already been great so far, I had a great family party yesterday with my dad and then attended a fun blogger event at Francesca's Collection downtown with my new blogging friends! One of the best things about blogging has been being able to interact and meet so many talented, fashionable women!! I seriously feel so out of place sometimes, (yeah I'm like the odd one in this photo huh!) but I'm grateful that I'm doing this fun side hobby right now in my life!

These photos were taken a few weeks ago when the world was warm and green. Now the leaves are changing and there's already snow in Utah!! I love this outfit for how relaxed it is. It's super casual and this shirt is one of my complete favorites. Graphic tees are one of my favorite items lately, see here, here, AND here for more ways I wore them!

Here's a Pinterest version that I created of my Outfit! What do you think?

We took these photos a few weeks ago while at my husband's grandparent's house. They have this amazing swing in their magical backyard and I couldn't help but jump on. It felt good to act like a kid!

Edge of Glory

I bought this jacket a few years ago from Lauren Conrad’s Collection at Kohls and it has by far been one of the best clothing purchases I’ve EVER made!! Her clothing has such quality and I love the way this jacket fits. I love switching out new items in my closet and finding clothes you forgot you had, best feeling ever! These photos were taken on a fun date night with my amazing husband up Emmigration Canyon to Ruth’s diner. By the end of the week after we’ve both been working a ton, the last thing I want to do it cook freaking dinner. So it’s an excuse to go out and try some good food! Ruth’s Diner has such a fun atmosphere with the string lights and patio setting in the back, if you’re living in Utah you definitely need to make a stop there before it gets too chilly, the food is amazing and it’s just far enough up the canyon that you don’t feel like you’re in the city!

I love this whole outfit and the lighting in these photos. One of my favorite things about this outfit is that it’s getting cold enough to swear SCARVES again! This crocheted scarf is from the Etsy shop ScarfGuru and the quality is amazing! This scarf fits amazing and can easily be dressed up or down for work, church, or school. I love the cute button detail that the shop owner Amanda added, it gives the scarf a fun accent. Not only is this scarf cute, it’s extremely comfortable and will keep you warm and cozy during the upcoming winter months! Head over to ScarfGuru right now and check out the amazing prizes she has on all of her infinity scarves! The quality of these scarves is incredible, something you're not going to find at Forever 21! I love handmade things and this scarf is no different!

my fair lady.

There’s something romantic about the fair. Among the hoard of people chomping on hot dogs and artery-clogging desserts, to the expensive rides and screaming children, there is something that makes the whole experience a magical one. The person you go with can make all the difference. My sister and I were able to enjoy a fun night out to the Utah State fair right before she left for college. When someone leaves you it feels like you’ve got to pack all of the fun memories you’ve ever had with that person into those last moments because you really don’t know when you’ll see them next, if ever. (Not trying to be unpleasant but its true people… LIVE IN THE MOMENT!)  I love my sister so much and any time we spend together is an lively one; filled with laughter, inside jokes, and some sort of comfort food. Here are a few shots from our adventure and a little outfit post!
**When I found this shirt at the local thrift store, yep, I knew I had to have it.  Having grown up next to Antelope Island all of my life where they have the bison roam, this shirt just brought back all of my childhood memories of going out there to see the buffalo! And of course it brought on the song… “ Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam, where the deer and the antelope play…”

** I got these rings for me and my sister from Fabulous Stamping on Etsy. Best purchase ever! They are super durable and you can pick from a large variety of sayings! We are best friends and it's fun to know we both wear these rings even when we're miles away from each other! Check out their site to see more of the fun options they have available and get one of your own today!

Hunter Green

Even though Halloween is around the corner, I can't handle scary movies. We watched World War Z last night with our friends and I was so jumpy! I'm one of those people who once they see something, they can't get it out of their mind. Great tool for when I go shopping!...Not so great for when im trying to sleep! Definitely an intense show.
By the time the work week comes again, I love to keep my outfits simple. I found this skirt at the local thrift store and immediately knew I needed it. I tend to gravitate to the midi length skirts more in the fall, I love big skirts that you can easily pair with tights! Hunter Green is easily one of my favorite colors for fall. It compliments EVERY skin tone and definitely helps bring out my eyes. (** My eyes change colors based on what I wear... when I wear blue, they appear more blue, when I wear green... they look more green, yellow.... yeah they have yellow specks. It's kinda freaky! Don't know how it happens but it does!)

First of Fall OOTD + Why I HATE the Holy War Rivalry

If you are from Utah or you know someone who lives in Utah, it’s likely that this past weekend was spent in front of the TV watching the Holy War (a.k.a. BYU vs. Utah Rivalry). I however, was not one of those people. I usually don’t express my opinion regarding sports matters, but today I’m going to chat a little bit about my frustration with the so called “game of the year”.
** Disclaimer: I am not a sports fanatic; I was not raised in a home of obsessed football lovers with devotion to a team of choice. I am not an expert on football by ANY means. These opinions are strictly my own and while you might not agree… this blog is a place for me to express my own thoughts and feelings. Take it or leave it.

The rivalry between the University of Utah and Brigham Young University began back around year 1922, making it one of the longest played college rivalries in the United States. The term “Holy War” has been used due to these two reasons. 1- Brigham Young University is run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the University of Utah is a public owned university run by the State of Utah.  2- There is a large cultural difference between both of the fan bases of each university. While many U of U fans are Latter-Day Saint members, many view BYU fans as being “overly religious, or the term ZOOBIE” and Utah fans are portrayed as “beer-drinking and Satanist.”  BYU and Utah campuses are extremely close to each other (approximately 50 miles) which just adds to the hatred. The rivalry has become a cultural phenomenon throughout the state of Utah.  Neighbors have been known get in fights, spray paint the opposing team’s logo on their neighbor’s front lawn, and I’m sure there are countless relationships that have possibly ended due to one’s love for the opposing team.

Now that you have a little history on the rivalry, here’s my opinion.
I was recently reading this article from the Deseret News, Is Rivalry Healthy or Harmful?
I hate the Holy War rivalry. I have many family members who are BYU fans and I attended a lot of games there as a child. My husband is an avid Utah fan and I have spent lots of games by his side cheering the Utes onto victory. I do not associate myself with either team but I enjoy football games and participating in cheering on a team with thousands of other fans. Over the past few years I have become more aware of the ill-feeling associated with this rivalry. I understand from a sports perspective that this is a fun, intense game that can often times leave you hanging until the very last second.  This rivalry doesn’t just end when the game buzzer sounds, this rivalry continues throughout the entire year.  I dislike this rivalry the most because it strikes something very personal to me, religion. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I dislike how the rivalry has morphed into a way for fans use the religion as a way to degrade or endorse the game of football. I really do wish the Holy War rivalry would end. There really is no benefit in playing each other, they’re not in the same conference, and winning/losing does nothing for either one. Do we keep playing this game just for the cultural benefits or so we can have our bishop stand up on Sunday morning in Sacrament and make a funny joke about previous night’s game? Yeah gag me. It’s not that I don’t like a little competitive fun; I hate the way the rivalry makes fans act like complete morons, on both sides of the playing field.

Now that that rant is done, here’s the simple but chic outfit I wore yesterday to celebrate the first day of Fall! I am so excited for the upcoming weeks; we have lots of fun activities planned and the crisp air here in Utah is one of my favorite things ever about this beautiful state!

This morning I was so tired, I couldn't remember what day of the week it was. You should have seen my excitement when my husband told me it's FRIDAY!! This week has been SO long and I am definitely ready to have some relaxing time with friends and family this weekend! Do you ever feel like you purchase clothes that are all the same few color hues? I love the corals, creams, and dark hues like black! I swear half of my wardrobe could fall into one of these categories. I just love the shades and how they accent my skin tone and features! This outfit is nonetheless… one of those hues. I LOVE black! Regardless of what season it is, black is slimming and looks so put-together without having to do much! This dress has long been one of my favorites. With the bow details and cute pleats, it’s perfect for going out or Sunday’s at church! I love gold accessories and loved pairing this dress with these ADORABLE kitty flats & chain clutch! Such a fun outfit that makes any girl feel girly!

Sweater Craving

Sweaters Under $25

Can you believe it's already the middle of September? Where has this month gone!! It is crazy to me how fast time flies when you get older and have to be an adult.  Last night I was able to hang out with some fellow Utah bloggers (Kaitlin from My Wardrobe Staples, Jalynn from The Red Closet Diary, Kristen from Wild One Forever, and Lily from Blushing Boulevard)  and it was a much needed girls night! We had so much fun laughing around the campfire and chatting about our lives, blogs, and pretty much anything and everything!  It's definitely starting to get chilly here in Utah and Icouldn't be happier about it!! You know what that means.... SWEATER TIME!
I can't get enough of sweaters.... the hard part is choosing which ones I'm going to buy! Fall is one of my favorite times of year, I love being able to throw on a sweater, some leggings, and boots and call it good. I have definitely developed a more relaxed style over the years and the statement sweaters I've seen lately are the perfect fall item to automatically look "put-together" which is what every girl wants right? The best part about these sweaters is that they're affordable. Sweaters are something you'll wear all the time so they're absolutely worth spending a little money on.

These sweaters are on my wish list... Old Navy had an AMAZING sale this weekend so I finally snagged the graphic fox sweater that I've been dying over! It's adorable and I can't wait to style it on the  blog! Check out my other favorite statement sweaters this season! Which one is your favorite??

College Going Away Party || Hot Air Balloon Theme

My baby sister Sarah is off to COLLEGE!! It’s seriously so crazy to me. I remember the easy days of playing with Barbie’s, riding our bikes, and playing dress up…. Where has the time gone! I couldn't resist throwing my sister a fun going away shower and it was so fun to spoil her with gifts for her first year at College! After browsing the internet a bit, I grew to love the Hot Air Balloon theme for this going away party. Hot Air balloons are so fun and girly; I couldn't wait to start decorating! Sarah’s favorite color is purple so I used that as the main color scheme for this event. See the pictures below to check out the party! I've included some fun printables and links at the bottom so you can have a hot air balloon party of your own!

I created these cards for friends/family to write notes to Sarah on.
I created this on Powerpoint after being inspired by this card shop I discovered on Etsy

Lovely brunch. Cranberry juice, bagels & shmear, and fruit fruit fruit!

These will forever be one of my favorite party decorations! These paper lanterns are so easy to re-use and add such a fun element to any party!

Here are some of the fun graphics I used to decorate with!

We couldn't help laughing about old times... Definitely couldn't ask for a better best friend.
Throwing parties is fun, especially when it's for someone you love!
