Match Made In Heaven

If you didn’t catch my post over on The Red Closet Diary this week, here’s what you missed! I’m focusing on two of my favorite must-haves for your closet this spring, floral pants and denim. These are a match made in heaven!! Both of these items are very feminine and can add a fun vibe to any outfit. Since I love them both, I couldn’t resist pairing them together, they make the perfect combo! I chose to wear a pair of my neon pink flats to give the outfit a little “pop” of color!

P.S. Check out my new button that I added to my side bar! Feel free to add this to your site, just email and let me know so I can add yours to mine as well!

Polka Dots + Pencil Skirts

I can’t explain how happy I am that it’s finally the weekend! Since getting my new job, it has become more and more essential to wear appropriate business-casual attire. It’s important to me to feel pretty and comfortable, especially since my work clothes are what I’m in for 8 hours a day! For this post I’m sporting some of my favorite things, polka dots, coral, and neutral heels. Polka Dots are a great way to spice up your work wardrobe while still maintaining that classy look. Pencil skirts will never go out of style and this season there are SO many fun colors and prints out there for the workplace. Neutral heels definitely are a staple item for me during the spring and summer months, just be sure you get a pair you feel comfortable wearing around all day! (P.S. One of my biggest pet peeves is women who buy heels but can’t walk in them properly! DON’T be one of those women!) Jewelry is always a must too! I keep my look simple with my go-to pearl earrings and this cute bow ring from this adorable shop on Etsy! See link below and check it out!!

Hope everyone has a great Friday and an awesome weekend!

MAXI Obsession

MAXI ObsessionMaxi skirts have become an essential item this season and I can’t seem to get enough of them. They are so easy to dress up or down and there are so many options to choose from! With maxi skirts, remember to focus on two things, fabric and length. When it comes to fabric I prefer a sheer, light-weight material that allows the fabric to be loose and fall whichever way. I personally do not like the tight maxis that suck to your butt & thighs, often made from Jersey-knit material, but always try on the maxi before purchasing to ensure it fits well! Next, the length of the maxi is extremely important as you want it to look bohemian, but not long enough that you can trip on your own skirt! Making sure the skirt hits right at or slightly below your ankle will allow for that perfect length without being too long or too short!

With all of the different styles to choose from, I have chosen some of my favorite prints when it comes to maxis this season
COLOR-BLOCKING| This print is a great way to bring a little color to your wardrobe without being too daring. These color schemes are perfect for a day out shopping or attending church! {Dorothy Perkins Boho Skirt}
OMBRE| Ombre Is out in full force this season and an ombre maxi skirt is a great pick if you’re going for a complete bohemian look. Pair this skirt with a fedora and big sunglasses, and you’re set! {Just Female floor length skirt}
FLORAL| If you want to turn heads and feel absolutely feminine, go floral! Floral is bold but beautiful print on maxis and looks amazing with chunky jewelry and a neutral top. {Alice & Oliva Floor Length Skirt}
NEUTRAL| Can’t go wrong with a neutral maxi. This color allows for endless possibilities in your closet and you can wear this to just about any event and look amazing! {River Island ankle length skirt}
STRIPES| Striped maxi skirts are by far the most popular this season. They are a great way to add a little fun to your outfit and can be easily worn with other prints for the desired mixed-print look. {Old Navy}

Chartreuse & Coral

Chartreuse, the color halfway between yellow and green, has become one of the hottest colors of the Spring/Summer 2013 season. I found this adorable skirt at the local thrift store downtown and for $5 dollars, I couldn’t pass it up. I saw a post on Lauren Conrad’s site titled, Spring Fling: Why We Love Chartruese & Coral, and I decided to do my own take on the color combo.
Lauren Conrad's Version:

My Version:

I paired the chartreuse color with a striped coral ¾ sleeve shirt from H&M. I added some jewelry, a belt and some neutral flats and Wah-La! Chartreuse would not normally be a color that I gravitate to, but it has a vibrant feel that is great for summer time!

Tuesday Tresses: Suave Dry Shampoo Spray Review

I decided to join the Dry Shampoo craze as of late. Just so everyone knows, Dry Shampoo has been around for years and isn’t something that was just invented. I remember in junior high my mom telling me to put baby powder on my hair if it was getting oily.

I recently bought the Suave Dry Shampoo Spray from Walmart for $2.88. It comes in a 5.0 oz. spray can and can be found there with the Shampoo & Conditioner isle. Not only does this stuff smell amazing (my husband loves the smell each and every time I use it), but it really does work.

I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. I used the dry shampoo for 5 days straight this past week and my hair felt full and clean during each of those 5 days. I used the spray every morning before work, and then again before I went to bed. It was so weird not to literally “wash” my hair for that long!

I definitely recommend this to everyone. I wouldn’t necessarily use the product consistently again like I did during my trial run, but this is a PERFECT product to use if you’re in a rush one morning before work and don’t have time to shower or even if you just want your hair to smell amazing!

Purchase your dry shampoo today, it’s worth the $3!! It can be found at all your major grocery stores along with various sites online! Follow the link to purchase yours today!

LDS General Conference: The Power of Words

General Conference LDS

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This weekend was the meeting our church holds called General Conference where members across the world come together to hear the words of our prophets and apostles. This meeting is held twice a year at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. My husband and I are blessed to live one block down from the Conference Center and we were lucky enough this year to snag tickets to the Sunday Morning session. The Conference center holds approximately 21,000 seats and the meeting is broadcast via satellite to over 7,400 church buildings in 102 countries. ( See more here.)

Regardless of what religion you believe in, there is something powerful when you join together with thousands of others who believe just as strongly about your religion as you do. What is more powerful are the words that are spoken during the meeting. The power of words has never ceased to amaze me. The speakers at Conference are not assigned a topic, but are guided by the spirit as to what topic they should focus on. There have been countless times that the speakers in General Conference have said words that have pierced me so strongly, they have brought me to tears, sent chills down my or answered a question I had been having.

This conference I wrote down a list of things that I was struggling with, questions I had and decisions I was wondering what my answer should be. I prayed for answers to my questions in this conference.  I will not disclose the list I wrote because it’s personal to me. However, I want to testify that EVERY question or concern I had one of the speakers in Conference touched on or gave me hope or some way to help solve the problem.  I don’t know of anyone who can’t improve in their lives. That’s what Conference to me is all about. It is a time to re-evaluate your life, look at ways you can improve and become a better person in your daily life. The speakers speak with such conviction that you can’t help but keep listening.

Below I have attached the videos of my favorite talks from Conference this year. Enjoy! these from the LDS Conference Youtube Channel!

April Accessorizing: Scarves

Accessorizing is something every girl should know the basics of. Accessorizing truly is the easiest way to add personality to your outfit and is perfect for those women like me who are always on the go! During the month of April I'm going to be spotlighting my favorite ways to accessorize and give you tips on how to follow the trend without giving up your personal style.

First Main Accessory: Scarves.

Scarves are perfect for every season. They are a simple way to accessorize any outfit! I recently saw an article on how to style your scarves from WhoWhatWear.Com and couldn’t resist passing it on my findings to all my followers. Check out these scarf inspirations for ideas on how to easily spice up your outfit:

1| Scarves can elevate your outfit. Adding a scarf to a basic coat gives your look a more sophisticated vibe.
2| Use a bold print scarf to accentuate your basic pieces
3| Scarves are an excellent way to add a bit of color to your outfit! This is an easy way to experiment with bold and pastel prints too.
4| Scarves add a bit of bohemian appeal when paired with cozy sweaters. Pair your neutral scarf with cropped denim to have a little boho-flair.

Scarves are a great accessory because they are inexpensive, easy to style, and are perfect for ALL seasons! Follow these basic style ideas to easily add scarves into your everyday Spring/Summer wardrobe!
